Winter Swimmers at the start of the 1000m

The traditional event at Christmas time ” The memorial of Alfred Nikodem” is the showpiece of Prague and CZ winter swimming, and whilst  this newer ”Branicke Ledy” competition recieves far less attention from the media it undoubtebly attracts the best swimmmers who look forward to a nice straight 1km course down the Vltava River and perfect winter conditions.

After some “down” time we are now up and running again. Although site admin is ongoing new content will be published soon including more winter swimming videos featuring swimming in extreme conditions, in very cold water.

More information about how to harden the body against cold water will also be coming along with information about various other things including news of the professional documentary film that is currently in production, featuring the many aspects of winter swimming  and even exclusive & as yet unseen footage of a wedding in cold water !

What conditions ! Ice, sunshine, snow, freezing water, truly its a beautiful winter we are experiencing and this in turn truly meant swimming in cold water.

The little town of Chocen,nestled deep in Bohemia, almost in Moravia,yet again brought us a fantastic winter swimming event.

This time the river was completely frozen so a brilliant “bazen” was cut from the ice, measuring around 50m by 6m it was a work of art with a small mouth in the middle where 2 ladders were placed for safe entrance and exit. The scene was completed by the placing of a turn buoy at each end of this “bazen”.
